All our guides are local; they have a fantastic knowledge of the area, the geography, geology, history, the people and places. Above all they love the area and their greatest pleasure is sharing their passion with visitors.

Steve is again a thoroughbred Dorset man, although when he was born in Southbourne it was actually in Hampshire..., but he can tell you all about that. Walking, being outside all day and having just returned, with the regulation bush hat, from 3 years in Australia, where he also worked as a guide, Steve is our very own Croc Dundee, a real gent, but with a sparkle in his eye.

Born in Malaysia many moons ago, Gerry "The Fossil", as he refers to himself, is a hit with all customers old and young. He joined the British Army in 1962 and left Malaysia in 1969 to travel the world, ending up in bonny Scotland in 1971. During his time in the forces he played Rugby for his regiment and badminton and hockey for the Army. A real action man! Gerry, his wife and their young family moved to Dorset some 31 years ago. He is a true family man who uses Skype to keep in touch with his mum in Malaysia as well as keep tabs on his son and grandchildren in Australia. With his 5th grandchild arriving in March 2011, he's a busy granddad who seems to thrive on being extremely active! Gerry has been guiding with us for the past three years and loves every minute of it.

Jim first discovered Dorset when serving in the Royal Navy and fell in love with the area (and wife Linda) at first sight. After 12 years of being paid to travel the world, he joined the Fire Service in Shropshire before transferring to Weymouth in 1982. While serving with Dorset Fire & Rescue, Jim worked in the training department for five years teaching Firefighters to drive Fire Engines both normally and with Blues & Twos. More recently Jim trained as an actor gaining his Equity card. He has appeared on TV (don't ask, he'll never shut up) and entertains as a singer around Dorset, mainly in retirement homes. He is in his element as a tour guide as it ties together his love of entertaining, driving and his keen interest in local history.

Tim Fletcher, another local lad, has lived in Dorset on and off since the age of 3. Having travelled to many different destinations, the highlight for him so far was the "awesome" sight flying over the Grand Canyon. Tim gets excited by the architecture and history of the great places we visit, a passion passed down by his Grandfather who was an architect. Other passions include listening to and watching live music. Tim loves nothing more than sharing his knowledge of all the exciting places we visit and seeing our visitors faces light up.

Richard grew up in deepest Dorset near Dorchester and has also lived in Wareham and Corfe Castle. A true Purbeckian, keeping a boat down at Kimmeridge and taking a draught or two at the Square and Compass, Richard is now living in the New Forest. Currently training as a Blue Badge guide in London, he has exchanged a government career talking for Britain in Brussels (in four languages!) for the chance to introduce people to the region and culture he prizes above all others..., even on his "days off" he volunteers as an accredited guide in Salisbury Cathedral.

A gentle giant, affable and calm, Richard will share with you his love of Dorset. Living at the foot of Cranborne Chase, he knows the County of Dorset like the back of his hand..., and he has got big hands. A self confessed transport buff, he used to own his own double decker..., for personal use! A very experienced driver/guide Richard will ensure you get so see all the nooks and crannies of the area, hidden to most visitors.

Dorset born and bred, Mike spent 30 years as a policeman in the county, mainly as a dog handler including handling specialist explosive detector dogs so he is well equiped to handle any situation that might arrise during the rather more laid back scenario of a Discover Dorset Tour. More recently Mike has been pursuing his interests in the chalk figures of Dorset and Wiltshire and local foods, mainly the eating of them! His favourite tour is The Jurassic Coast Tour, an experience that never ceases to amaze guests and guide alike.
