Dear Tim, Richard and Gerry,

Many thanks to you all for such a wonderful day last Friday. If this trip is not on your itinerary then you should certainly make it one as many of our group had previously been to Shaftesbury but never knew there was a Abbey there or that there were two museums! The Chairman of the Museums gave our group an excellent introductory talk before we were let loose to use their excellent audio tour handsets. It was certainly the best audio tour I have even done. We had a bonus with the local craft group being in the Town Hall and were able to support the local community by purchasing a very reasonable lunch and some handcrafted gifts.

The coffee stop at Rushmore was brilliant and so were the bacon baps. For those that chose the coffee and biscuits - the biscuits were delicious and tasted as though they had only just been made. It was a real treat just to drive up the beautiful driveway and see the sheep grazing and wandering across the driveway and numerous grouse crossing the path too, we really were in the heart of the countryside.

Again Cerne Abbas was known to many but they had only looked at the shops and had never walked up the side street to see the remains of the old Abbey etc.

The route chosen by Richard was excellent and the scenery absolutely astounding and beautiful especially more so as we had such good weather. What a pity that many local residents do not realise what wonderful places there are to see right on their own doorstep although you probably need a "Blue Badge Guide such as Richard" to show you the many treasures and hidden gems that there are in Dorset.

Lastly we must thank Gerry for his excellent driving skills and for taking such good care of us and your new mini-coach.
